VMware has made the vSphere 7 generally available last week – and sure enough, a mere split second later I already saw people reporting that they upgraded, and Veeam Backup & Replication 10 appears to work fine with it. While in general this was expected, as v10 includes support for the latest vSphere 7.0 RC build that was available to us at the time – as usual, we'll need to perform the full regression testing on the generally available vSphere 7 build before we can declare the official support. And while v10 may appear to "just work" with it, I can tell you that this required bigger-than-usual changes under the hood on our side, due to vSphere 7 deprecating many legacy APIs. So at least in theory, the possibility of regressions is more significant than with the previous vSphere releases. Because of that, it would be smart not to jump the gun!

Maximum Tolerable Downtime (MTD) - The MTD represents the total amount of time
leaders/managers are willing to accept for a mission/business process outage or disruption
and includes all impact considerations.

Recovery Time Objective (RTO) - RTO defines the maximum amount of time that a system
resource can remain unavailable before there is an unacceptable impact on other system
resources, supported mission/business functions, and the MTD.

Recovery Point Objective (RPO) - The RPO represents the point in time, prior to a disruption
or system outage, to which mission/business process data shall be recovered (given the
most recent backup copy of the data) after an outage.

HOT / COLD site
A hot site is a DR location that is set up and ready to go -- that is, one can arrive and continue to work immediately. A hot backup site will have equipment set up with your current data available when you walk in, with all primary data center functions copied and maintained off site.

Unlike a hot site, which is available and running 24/7, a cold site is essentially available space with little, if anything, set up in it. When you arrive at a cold backup site, you need to set up the equipment, make all connections, load the software, etc. Until DR services are activated, only basic power, communication services and environmental controls for the IT system are installed.
